If you like drinking coffee from Ethiopia, it’s been an incredible year. And if you don’t like drinking coffee from Ethiopia??? Well, presumably you’re not reading this, and that’s good cause frankly we have nothing to say to you. JK. Maybe. ANYWAY.
This is our FOURTH (!!!!) Ethiopia offering of the season, and it’s a truly epic continuation of the party. It’s shiny and tropical enough that you may want to stick a little umbrella into your mug before sipping, and if you’re suffering from SAD, this can pretty much be your sunlamp. It’s juicy, fruity, coconutty, and delightful.
Basha is a farmer and mill manager in Sidama, Ethiopia. He primarily grows an heirloom variety registered as 74158, known locally as “Walega”, and also works with neighboring farmers to collect cherries grown as high as 2,300 meters above sea level. He goes 100% au naturale at the mill (this is a way of saying that the coffees are dry process, but it’s slightly French, for no reason), and the results are astounding. We cupped this one alongside several other fantastic coffees, but there was no doubt: this is something special. It will perhaps be our penultimate offering from Ethiopia for the year — though we do reserve the right to go back on this claim, should the spirit strike us.
