Yonny Martinez is a first-generation coffee farmer who began working in the field as a teenager. Seventeen years later, he now has a wife and four kids, and runs several small parcels of land spread across Huehuetenango. This washed lot is a blend of San Ramón, Costa Rica, Pacamara, and Catuaí from a parcel called La Cipresada, which happens to be located especially close to Yonny’s grandparents.
With a blissfully bouncy mouthfeel, lingering sweetness, and a superbly refreshing citrus shine, this coffee channeled the bright spindly images of Truffula Trees straight into our minds, and we chose to honor perhaps the sweetest Seussical classic of The Lorax with its third note. While this coffee is absolutely balanced nicely enough to be an everyday sipper no matter how you make it, it really does have exceptional charm, and we’re excited to see it blossom into one of our biggest stars of the summer.
